Eton Manor Olympic Village

New sporting facilities are being developed on the site of the old Eton Manor Sports Club.  This community sporting facility was established in the 1900s and, by the middle of the last century, the Eton Manor Boys' Club had gained a reputation as an elite sporting association.

Once the site was  cleared, the are became the temporary home of the Construction College East London. This was a practical training centre for people interested in working in construction.  Many of the graduates from the centre went on the gets jobs on the Olympic Park.

In 2009 the centre moved to a permanent home near the Royal Docks in east London, so that the site could be prepared for the new facilities.

During the Olympic Games, Eton Manor will have temporary training pools for participants in aquatics events: it will have three 50m pools for swimmers and smaller pools for synchronised swimmers and water polo players.   It will then host the Wheelchair Tennis during the Paralympics' Games and remain a training facility for Aquatics competitors.

After the Games, it is intended that Eton Manor be transformed into a unique mix of sporting facilities for local and regional communities, including a tennis centre with four indoor and six outdoor courts, a hockey centre with two competition pitches and a five-a-side football pitch.  The facilities will be able to accommodate elite hockey events for up to 15,000 spectators.

Goodwater will be undertaking pre-commission dynamic flushing, biocide washing and chemical cleaning of the LTHW, Chilled water and heat recalim systems in accordance with BSRIA AG 1/2001.1

Northfield Residency, University of Sussex, Brighton

Northfield Student Residencies, on the Falmer Campus of the University of Sussex, will be the largest single project on the campus since the University was constructed in the 1960s.

The project involves the design and construction of 776 modular timber framed student bedrooms and supporting amenities.  Extensive landscaping is required in this environmentally sensitive site that is washed over by the green belt.

The residential development is served by a large MTHW system with around 5 miles of pipework serving plant rooms within each of the buildings.  Goodwater's work involves the flushing and subsequent filling with softened water of the entire MTHW system.  The work will be undertaken over a number of phases using a portable water softening rig.

Upon completion of filling, the system will be dosed with biocide and corrosion inhibitors to protect the system from corrosion- and bacteria-related issues.

116-120 Coldharbour Lane

In August 2009, Notting Hill housing was granted planning permission, to build 108 new residential homes in two buildings on Coldharbour Lane.  All the homes in the development will be available for social rent or shared ownership.  The development aims to bring high quality, sustainable living to the area and deliver modern, stylish apartments through the use of innovative construction.

The ambition of this process is to source and commission a proportion of high quality public art, consistent with the theme of the development, with the chosen works embracing the sustainable aspirations and modern image of the development whilst responding to the local character and community of the area.

Construction of the apartments will be completed by Skanska and Goodwater will be undertaking the following water treatment works:
  • Pre-commission dynamic flushing, biocide washing and chemical cleaning of the LTHW, Chilled Water and heat reclaim systems in accordance with  BSRIA AG 1/2001.1
