COVID-19:   Recommendations for the Management of Building Water Systems at Risk from Legionella due to Unscheduled Building Closure.

COVID-19 has plunged the country into crisis and while everyone is aware of the health and safety issues relating to the country’s population, it is also important to consider the knock-on effect it is having on the water systems in buildings being shut-down temporarily. We have therefore compiled the attached guide for the Dutyholder which incorporates advice from the Government and other regulatory bodies about what should be done to minimise the proliferation of legionella, pseudomonas and other bacteria in their water systems.

COVID-19  Goodwater Update 17/03/2020

As the national situation around coronavirus COVID -19 continues to evolve and the advice is updated, we are keen to confirm our current service delivery objectives.

We continue to take a calm and precautionary approach to ensure the best service delivery outcome possible for all our customers and have a desire to help where we can with this current situation.

We are trying our very best in difficult conditions to prioritise our workload so that our water hygiene engineers and technicians can respond in a timely fashion to customer urgent requests, particularly in relation to legionella control.

Legionellosis is a bacterial disease affecting the respiratory system, so it is essential that stringent water hygiene is maintained to ensure the current problem is not compounded.

In saying this we recognise there is a fine line between maintaining vital services and containing the spread of the COVID – 19 virus and Goodwater will work tirelessly, using best practices, to meet individual contract requirements.
