Goodwater in the Community

In the run up to Christmas, a time for joy for most but a time which can also be very difficult for some, the Goodwater team have been active on three fronts to try and help people in the wider community.

Macmillan Cancer Support

Because cancer can affect your life in so many ways, we do whatever it takes to give people the support they need.

Macmillan is one of the most recognised charities in the country, and the work they do to help everyone with cancer live life as fully as they can, providing physical, financial and emotional support, is simply amazing.

In October we ran a coffee morning in aid of Macmillan Cancer support, with staff bringing in cakes and goodies much of which was home-baked and all of which was a delicious success! We surpassed the target we set and managed to raise ยฃ271 for this fantastic cause. ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™

Wokingham Food Bank

“The foodbank was there when we really needed it, it was an absolute lifeline.”

Wokingham is one of the wealthiest towns in England – but it’s also one of the most expensive places to live, and not everyone has an income that lets them manage. The Food Bank’s website says this – “We donโ€™t think anyone in Wokingham should go hungry, or have to choose between eating or heating and lighting their home. Thatโ€™s why we provide a minimum of three days’ nutritionally balanced emergency food and support to local people who are referred to us by one of the 70 care agencies who we work with in Wokingham. We are part of a nationwide network of foodbanks, supported by The Trussell Trust, working to combat poverty and hunger across the UK.

In November we asked our staff to support this effort by bringing in a variety of goods, canned and tinned food, jars, nappies, laundry detergent, store cupboard items and so on, and as always they came up trumps! ๐Ÿ˜Š๐Ÿ™

The charity wrote to us after we dropped everything to them –

I am writing to thank you for Goodwater Limitedโ€™s generous donation to Wokingham Foodbank of 46.55kgs of food. It is heart-warming to know that in spite of everything else going on in the world there is still so much compassion for others in our community who are less fortunate and struggling with the cost of food. Donations to our foodbank have been lower this year, which has placed strain on our stocks. Thanks to the generosity of donations such as yours we are in a strong position to face the challenges ahead.

The Cowshed

Showing love and support to those experiencing hardship in Berkshire

As a charity their mission is to support individuals facing hardship by providing essentials such as clothing, bedding, toiletries and baby equipment.

Our staff have been buying toys, books, and chocolates to give to The Cowshed to support their Christmas Project, which involves gifting children (aged 0-18) from vulnerable families handmade sacks filled with new gifts, ensuring they experience the joy of Christmas. Each child receives a sack from The Cowshed containing 1 main gift, 2 additional smaller gifts, a book or colouring set, a chocolate selection pack and stocking fillers.
